KMMG Makes $38,000 Donation to the City of West Point
Kia and West Point continue successful partnership that has led to the announcement of more than 10,000 new jobs for this area.

WEST POINT, Ga. (October 19, 2009) —In appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the City of West Point to the Kia project, officials with Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) presented a $38,000 donation to West Point on Friday for improvements in city resources and development.
Randy Jackson, KMMG's Director of Human Resources and Administration, said that this donation was a small token of thanks to the City of West Point for all of its contributions toward making the Kia Project a huge success story.
"KMMG could not ask for a better partner than the City of West Point," said Jackson. "Without the help, support and cooperation of the entire city, we would not have been able to make the progress we have up to this point. Teamwork is such an important part of everything we do at KMMG and nothing embodies the very essence of that philosophy more than our relationship with the City of West Point."
West Point Mayor Drew Ferguson IV thanked KMMG for the donation and vowed the city's continued support of the Kia Project.
"We all recognize how fortunate we are to have this wonderful partnership with such a great company right here in West Point," said Ferguson. "The city will continue to use every resource we have available to support KMMG."
Ferguson noted that in a tough economic climate for the U.S. as a whole, it was a blessing to have good jobs being created in this region.
"To be able to put around 10,000 people to work as a result of Kia and its suppliers in this area is incredible," he said.
The $38,000 donation to the City of West Point is the single largest donation given out by KMMG to date. In 2009 KMMG has supported a number of organizations and events including the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, local parks and recreation departments, West Georgia Health Systems, Lanier Health Systems, Hospice, the Chattahoochee Fuller Center for Housing and many others with donations totaling almost $150,000.
Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) is the first manufacturing site in North America for Kia Motors Corporation based in Seoul, Korea. KMMG is located on 2,200 acres in West Point, Georgia, and is scheduled to begin production in the last quarter of 2009. At full capacity, the plant will have the ability to produce 300,000 vehicles annually and employ approximately 2,500 team members.
